It is hard to believe that by the time this article hits your mailboxes, it will be the final week of our regular Awana nights, followed by Awards Night on May 7. It has been a different, but good year. The schedule was unique in that we broke for two weeks so that the church could be transformed into Judgement House in addition to our normal Thanksgiving, Christmas and Spring breaks. Although concerned that the interruptions to the schedule would break the momentum, we have been blessed with continued attendance, averaging around 200 children each week.
The best highlight of the year has been the numerous salvations that have occurred. Just this past week, a visitor heard the story of what God had done for her through His Son, Jesus Christ. Although this girl attended a church, she had never before heard the Truth. It is amazing the privileges God gives us each week as we have the opportunity to touch lives with the hope of eternity!
On a much lighter note, I would be remiss if I did not let you know how we finished up the event season. In March, the Worship Center was transformed into a motor-revving (compliments of special sound effects) Grand Prix track. The Weller Family made a complete sweep of the speed races. There is no doubt that consultation services might be asked of the Wellers next year!
We had four teams participate in the AwanaGames, two teams of boys and two teams of girls. Both boys’ teams and one of the girls’ teams placed 1st, and the other girls’ team placed 2nd. We had too many clubbers wishing to participate, so one faithful T&T girl offered to play on another church’s team. They placed 3rd. We had one team participate in Sparks-a-Rama, and they placed 2nd.
Two girls who had never before participated said they couldn’t wait to do it again next year. The speaker gave a compelling message, challenging the children (and adults) to set goals and to make sure the goals were righteous, wise and reasonable.
Thank you to all of the clubbers, coaches, line judges and the circle director who made the day possible. Thanks also to the parents for making sure the children were at the practices and got to the event. It was a great day.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to Joe Freud for leading our club and to all of the directors and leaders who so faithfully attended and served each week. You have had a part in making an eternal difference in the life of a child.
We invite you all to attend the Awards Night on May 7, at 7pm in the Worship Center.
