When I first came back in September of 2006 I hung two frames: my diploma from Moody and my ordination certificate. Those are important pieces of paper because of the hard work they represent. Several months ago, my poor hanging job resulted in both of these frames crashing to the floor. Today I attempted to glue them back together and hang them again. I say attempted because it didn't take but an hour for one of the frames to fall to the floor sending Janelle, Edith, Anna and Kris to my door with concerned looks on their faces. "Nothing to see here," I said.
Maybe this is a bit how the Community Life Ministry has been for you. You have been in a group and it is not what you thought it would be; you have been disappointed. For those that have been a part of Grace for 15 years and have been involved in a "Care Group", the last year has been a startling change. You might be a Community Life Leader and the group just is not working for one reason or another. Just when you think the group is secure and moving in the right direction, everything crashes to the floor. Take heart my friends. It is the grace of the Lord that keeps us going, not our own efforts. God honoring community is moving forward.
On Sunday, April 20 I met with Community Life Leaders to talk about the end of this school year as well as the coming Fall. I am so grateful for the time that we had together. They were so gracious and helpful and open to what we (myself and the Council) have been working to implement. So, to all Leaders, I thank you! To those of you who are not in a group and would like to be, mark August 24 on your calendars. If you have been feeling like God has been tugging at you to utilize some leadership gifts (service, hospitality, administration, teaching) as a Community Life Group Leader, let me know. We are excited about what God is going to do in this ministry in the years to come. Stay tuned!
