Randy and Nedra Sharp ~ FamilyLife

Randy and Nedra Sharp are missionary staff with Campus Crusade for Christ. They serve with FamilyLife headquartered in Little Rock, AR. FamilyLife is a marriage and family ministry dedicated to the call of making “every home a godly home”. FamilyLife’s mission statement is: “To effectively develop marriages and families who can change the world one home at a time”. FamilyLife is a one to many ministry, taking the message of Christ to multitudes of people through many outreaches. Those outreaches include Broadcasts through radio and podcasts, (listened to over 9.1 million times each week) Marriage Conferences and Church based Seminars, Small Group Studies called HomeBuilders, Resources including books, articles, audio and video, Internet ministry at www.familylife.com, and Hope for Orphans. FamilyLife is also developing a church based ministry called Life Ready, a ministry led by Robert Lewis. It is a vision of FamilyLife that every church would develop a on-going marriage ministry to help prepare, maintain and strengthen marriage and families using Biblical principles. FamilyLife is also active in 73 other countries around the world.

Randy and Nedra Sharp both serve with FamilyLife. Randy serves with the Events Ministries Group as a Field Ministry Representative and Team Leader. FamilyLife annually conducts over 130 Weekend To Remember Marriage conferences and over 30 Church based seminars. Randy’s responsibilities involve oversight of 25 events along with managing his Team of four other men. Randy’s Team has two conferences in the Fall (Sept-Dec) and twenty-three in the Spring (Feb-July). He and his Team work with volunteer teams in the respective conference areas to recruit, encourage and hold accountable those who have committed to help bring the conference to their city or area. Randy’s Team has a total goal of reaching 14,200 conferees this year. This past fiscal year there were nearly 93,000 people who attended a marriage conference. From those in attendance, over 3,300 received Christ as their Lord. We praise the Lord for adding to His Kingdom! When Nedra is not traveling with Randy, she serves in the Contract Administration Department with FamilyLife. Her Department oversees all the agreements the ministry has with authors and other organizations. Trademarks, Copyrights and royalties are also a significant part of their responsibilities to assure the ministry operates legally.

Randy, Nedra and Travis Sharp live across the Arkansas River in a town similar to the size of Newton. The drive is 13.5 miles one way to the ministry. The ministry building is humbly named The Servants Quarters. It is a privilege to be able to serve here. God provided the resources for the building to be constructed and occupied debt free. Randy and Nedra accepted the invitation to serve with FamilyLife July 2, 2004 and moved to Little Rock to serve at the FamilyLife Headquarters December 2005. Their son Travis also moved with them in the middle of his junior year of high school. (Not an easy transition) He graduated from Central Arkansas Christian High School May 2007 and is now attending Pulaski Technical College in North Little Rock and lives at home. Travis has matured physically, emotionally and spiritually since the move. His desire is to serve God in whatever vocation or profession he lands. He is currently interested in graphic design, photography and playing soccer. Their oldest son Ryan is living in Lawrence, KS and working at Checkers grocery. Prayer for Ryan is that God will lead him back to Himself!

Currently, the Sharps are attending Grace Bible Church in Little Rock. (Pastor Jim Horning visited there with us) This is a church plant from Fellowship Bible. They are part of a community group that meets twice per month as a group, and once a month as men and women. Campus Crusade for Christ and FamilyLife also offer seminary level classes that are used to complete requirements for personal and spiritual growth. IBS (Institute of Biblical Studies) classes are offered four to six times each year at FamilyLife. Time is given to participate and complete the work. FamilyLife requires 24 Certificate Hours (Undergraduate) or 24 Graduate level hours to be completed in five years. Randy is also required to be involved with FamilyLife Toastmasters to improve speaking and leadership skills. FamilyLife also requires that each person have an accountability partner and provides time on Tuesday mornings to meet together. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and every other Wednesday begin with prayer. In addition, prayer happens each Tuesday at lunch for those who can attend, and Wednesday afternoon in our Events Ministries Group for those traveling to conferences.

We thank the Lord for Grace Community Church co-laboring with us in this ministry with FamilyLife. It is our desire to be a blessing to you by giving you current and relevant resources and information about how each of you can be involved in marriage ministry at Grace and your other circles of influence. Thank you for your prayers and financial support!
